A cosy little hostel in Tokomaru Bay on the edge of the world - East Coast.
We are your home Out East, an environmentally friendly backpackers with magnificent views over the Pacific Ocean and the first sunrise! Come here to get away from the crowds, kick back and just enjoy the peace of the historical coastal village of Tokomaru Bay.
Tokomaru Bay has a long sandy beach, 7 days supermarket, tavern with pub and internet café, horse treks, fishing wharf and more.

Our smallest cabin with the best view!
Cosy, compact living with a deck overlooking the Pacific. A double bed, but can also be used as a single room.
If you're looking for a relaxed hide-away, to wake up by the sunshine through the window, look no further!
Along a path up in the bush sits our honeymoon cabin, perfect for the couple who prefers quietness and privacy.
Relax on the deck with a good book and a fresh made coffee, or just listen to the birdsong!
The most spacious cabin, with a double bed, bunk single and a spare single bed. Ideal for a famliy or a group of friends! There's room for a portable baby cot.
On the porch there's a kitchen including fridge, gas stove, tap and utensils. You can park your car next to the cabin and it's only a short walk to the main building
Our comfortable double room in the main building has a queen size bed, as well as a spare single bed.
The room is close to all the facilities.
It's also suitable for a small family, and there's room to bring a baby cot.
Price: $33 per person and night
We have 3 lofts, right under the roof!
This is what we call share rooms, which means that you share the loft with some one else.
Two of the lofts are above the lounge, with only two beds in each.
The third loft has three beds and a balcony.
Price: $28 per person and night
Our two tent sites can claim the most amazing views!
They are up on the hill in lush surroundings. The top site sits on the ridge, with sunset over the vally on one side, and the sunrise over the Pacific and Tokomaru Bay on the other side.
A bit further down is the bigger site, with room for two large tents.

As a guest you share all our facilities, which includes fully equipped kitchen, cosy lounge, hot showers, composting toilets. We also provide laundry service.
Activities in Tokomaru Bay includes:

Horse riding with Tokomaru Bay Horse Sports Club
- go trotting along the beach and explore the bush!
From us you can rent surf- and body boards and push bikes. In Tokomaru Bay there's rugby and fotball fields.
